“THERE’S NOT A PROJECT LIKE THIS ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES. IF IT’S SUCCESSFUL, IT WILL PUT ROANOKE ON THE MAP AND BE A CATALYST FOR ADDITIONAL GROWTH IN THE AREA.”

Melrose Plaza will represent several transformational first, including the first adult high school in Virginia. Multiple partners are collaborating on the project, including the City of Roanoke and Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, which supplied the facility and will operate the grocery store, a first for any Goodwill in the country.

Among its many goals, Melrose Plaza will address health disparities. End the food desert in Northwest Roanoke. Remove barriers to economic success. And create a new sense of community pride.

SHOP FOR AFFORDABLE FOOD CLOSE TO HOME.

To address food scarcity in NW Roanoke, THE MARKET ON MELROSE, PLANNED FOR DECEMBER 2024, will be a full-service grocery store for access to affordable, healthy food – just within reach for our community.

LEARN THE VALUE OF FINANCIAL PLANNING

To foster a thriving community, THE BANK OF BOTETOURT branch will help bring financial empowerment to the people of Northwest Roanoke. The branch will be fully operational, with easy access to banking services, a 24/7 ATM, and free one-on-one financial coaching.

GET THE SKILLS EMPLOYERS WANT

The Excel Center® will be a free public high school for adults, making education more accessible and futures brighter. Building on the success of the Melrose Library next door, the Center will partner with them to create a climate of lifelong learning and community enrichment.

IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH & FITNESS

Designed to improve the health and wellbeing of NW residents, THE WELLNESS CENTER will be run by local health and wellness experts and offer medical, dental, and behavioral health services. The center will host vaccination clinics, well-child screenings, and more.

RESTORE THIS ONCE-VIBRANT COMMUNITY.

When one part of our region is challenged, everyone feels it. That’s why people throughout the Roanoke Valley have banded together to raise money for the construction of Melrose Plaza.

Not everyone can give a million dollars. But imagine if a million people give just $1, how that positive impact would reverberate across the community. Donate to the Melrose Plaza project and help restore self-sufficiency to this area. Restore life-enhancing services and jobs. Restore greatness.
